FULORA Foundation-for every child to bloom
Every child is just like a flower
that needs to be tended with
care for it to blossom in all it’s
splendour. So, let’s give them
the love and care that shall
bring in the blossom their
Otherwise deprived conditions.
Fulora - Blossoms in Every Childs Life
Our children constitute a major portion of a population and in a way represent the quality of a nation. Destitute, homeless, underprivileged children lack appropriate emotional, social, and economic environment, which is a must for their normal development. The ruthless pressure of survival lead to their indulging in crime, drug peddling and abuse, child labour, prostitution, begging, thefts, and inappropriate modes of recreation.
They also have no access to education, affection, social values and culture.
Today in Mumbai, a large number of orphans, underprivileged, destitute children seek shelter in tunnels and footpaths where they lack appropriate emotional, social and economic security. Faced with a bleak future, they fall prey to anti-social elements, thereby worsening their situation even further.
Today, we are reaping the harvest of this alienation, as the world explodes around us in a cacophony of disharmony. Tastes have degenerated all around. Dissention and discord have ripped to shreds the fabric of our society. Aids and cancer are rampant. Communism is dead, and although capitalism is racing through the world like a broncobuster, it is ravaging the earth and setting the agenda for our own destruction. There is a better way to live.
Children are our Society’s Foundation Our Combined Efforts shall build a strong Nation
Such dreams have been endured for long and put into practice by Late Prof. Ram Joshi and Mr.Arun Sabnis (CMD of Creator Advertising Ltd). Founded in the 1996 after the detailed study for almost 12 years by eminent educationist Late Prof. Ram Joshi.
The trust has undertaken some unique projects |
“Fulora mobile school and Fulora barefoot school” for the educational enlightenment of the street children. These are briefed below:
A) FULORA BARE FOOT AND MOBILE SCHOOL: A MEANINGFUL EDUCATION is what we provide to the Children. In all this process of educating them we make it sure they enjoy it. We are very careful about their financial and social status. They are given freedom about expressing their thoughts regarding School systems, questions on the study syllabus, observation or critics, and lot of importance is given for the same.
B) ASHIRWAD COMPUTER INSTITUTE: It is free basic computer education for the street children and deprived children. This has immensely benefited the deprived children as well as the ones from the low-income families unable to afford the cost. The institute wants to give professional education, which can absorb adult street children in the Society as a “Computer Education Office Assistants” this would help us in total rehabilitation of the Street Children
In a world where greed and hunger, anger and hatred, despair and decay, have never before orchestrated in to such a strident pitch, the Jansuvidha Sankul movement is like a patch of verdant green grass in the desert wasteland of the new Millennium
The Fulora Foundation Trust ("Trust") has entered into an agreement with the Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation ("MSRTC") and the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation ("GSRTC") to build, operate, own and transfer (BOOT) shelters for the buses operated by MSRTC and GSRTC at approximately 500 locations in each state. The profits generated from this project will be utilised for the total upliftment of the deprived children. While serving to the society this socio-commercial project will be helping us in the implementation of various projects designed by Late Prof. Ram Joshi.
Rehabilitation of Government Beggars Centre at Chembur |
Fulora Foundation will create necessary infrastructure to rehabilitate the beggars at the Beggars Home and will undertake the maintenance of the Beggars Home and the beggars to be shifted there. . We will develop the program for the upliftment of these people, which will finally leads to their independent rehabilitation at some other place with the help of our supervisors and Social workers.
GURUKUL REHABILITATION CENTERS
These centers will undertake the complete transformation of street children leading to their upgradation and upliftment in society. At these places general education alongwith self-employment/cottage industry education will be imparted to the underprivileged children. The “ASHIRWAD” computer institute and Beggar’s home form a part of it.
Unnati Handicrafts, which as its name suggests, is for the progress of the street children. Here, the child art, in the form of handicrafts, of these children is exhibited to the people. The money earned from the sale of the handicrafts is used only for the total rehabilitation of the deprived children.
Also, Sanskruti, another organisation will stage charity shows, events, etc where children under our wing would showcase their talents by performing in such shows, the funds collected will be used for their further rehabilitation.
We are involved in society uplifting projects, which would reflect the change of the present situation for a very promising and better future. The erection of the B.M.C & Fulora Urinals would be a boon to the society and a true proper opportunity to develop for the deprived street children.
FULORA FOUNDATION is a nonprofit Humanitarian relief organisation
that believes every child deserves the best this world has to offer.
Please help us in our journey to make a difference in the lives
and hearts of poor orphan children around the world.
100% of our donations go in to help the orphans!
We have entered into the 21st century, just a few years from now. Several nations across the world have reached unprecedented heights of advancement in science, technology, industry and infrastructure; we are honing our skills to face the challenges that the next century will be bringing along with it.
Maharashtra is in the forefront of industrial development in the country, mirroring the nation’s attitudinal changes that take place in the industrial arena. It has always been the first state to open out to investors be it from home or other parts of the world. Its work-ethos, its widespread infrastructure covering vast expanses of the state, and above all its open-minded attitude has made it a titan of immeasurable industrial strength.
Mumbai: Being hailed as the commercial capital of India and city of dreams, it has long been undergone significant change, way back from its existence, until now to its flourishing presence. It is the heartbeat of its nation. People in large numbers flock to this part from other states to Mumbai as many success stories have been defined starting from Mumbai itself, right from employment to entertainment, Mumbai has it all to offer to its inhabitants. This is the place, which has proven heaven to some and hell to some, everything has a good as well as bad side of it, and so does Mumbai. It will definitely come across as an attractive package, but likewise it has its pros and cons as well. One can experience the meteoric rise of Mumbai throughout many decades, despite of many a debacle. It has the absorbing power for sustenance, amiability and stiff competition.
Mumbai in its growing years:
Bombay in its traditional form echoed the voices of the rulers-in the early years, the British and their Indian collaborators belonged to the trading class. It is only in recent times that it has grown as a finance and industrial capital. During the earlier times, basic amenities such as water supply, sewerage and health facilities were planned in response to periodic crisis, calamities or protests rather than with a long-term perspective.
It was only after the establishment of Bombay Municipal Corporation in 1865, marked a further development of civic-consciousness.
The post-independence period has seen the articulation of demands for more space by workers and the growing middle-class. On the other hand, many servicing and recreational institutions were located by the elite classes for their own use on public lands cornered by them at throwaway prices or on cheap lease. In the name of representing community interests, some politicians have in one way or other blocked implementation of plans beneficial to the less privileged.
As predicted, the extremely concentrated commercial growth of Mumbai resulted in congestion, overcrowding and enormous pressure on road and suburban rail transport, water supply, sewerage and electricity. For workers job in the district meant long hours and high cost of commuting. The abnormal rate of increase of real estates value resulted in a distorted land and housing market, health and education rising to heights beyond the reach of general population.
Clean & Better Mumbai in practical way!
We at Fulora Foundation charitable trust are working for the upliftment of civic facilities in Mumbai & Maharashtra.
We had started with a slum improvement drive way back in Dec 1999 alongwith the then additional municipal commissioner A.K. Jain near Shanti Nagar area, Dahisar (East).
We even provided dustbins, litterbags and spittoons for the residents of Bhuleshwar area to clean their house gullies, as our survey carried out revealed lack of disposal of excessive garbage, the typical problem of South Mumbai. We had organised special drive to motivate the people staying in South Mumbai, Girgaum- Bhuleshwar area.
We had also successfully used the municipal work force to restrict people from throwing litter on roads as well as in house gullies.
We had studied as well as surveyed almost 1036 “House Gullies” in the Girgaum area and prepared the detailed report.
We would like to work as a Task Force, an umbrella of various civic stakeholders, it is once again putting its best foot forward. Declaring, that the welfare of the citizens is paramount, it has now come out with 'citizen-centric' plans.
We have installed 12 State of the Art Executive Pay & Use Public Toilets in Mumbai. These Toilets are of portable nature and maintained clean as well as stink free. The regular use of jet cleaners as well as vacuum cleaners for the cleaning ensures hygienity for our toilets. We are planning to use coin-operated doors for these Toilets.
We have already installed 5 Toilets alone on Maharshi Karve Road (Queens Road). We have extended the cleanliness program and designed a Beautification drive for this area. We had been requested to engage in anti-Hawkers drive (M. K. Road Area is declared as no Hawking Zone) as a part of our Beautification drive. Accordingly, we had assigned about 22 Security Guards on M. K. Road for removal of unauthorized Hawkers and maintenance of the Project. We had got positive response to the drive and almost for 3 months we had maintained the entire M. K. Road in A-Ward, Unauthorized Hawkers free zone. Unfortunately, non-cooperation on the part of civic authorities, we had to remove our security guards and could no longer sustain the encroachment of hawkers.
Fulora’s Chairman Arun Sabnis, also CEO of Creator Ltd, said, "Citizen Friendliness is about reorientation of the government machinery." It also deals with accuracy of information, completeness and immediate availability of information to the average citizen.
We want to carry out 'Periodic surveys to identify citizens' problems. Simplified procedures like Fulora's Self-Assessment Scheme should be worked out.'
The citizen-friendly programmes will also help bridge the gap between planning and implementation of an idea. 'In a way, the idea was to build friendliness at the grassroots level of governance and the actual volunteers. .
The FULORA FOUNDATION is not about achieving "easy tasks" but about "making the tasks easier for the citizens" -- at least this is what we want to make as a target for our goals.
ADOPT A PARK and Help Mumbai Retain its Image of Gateway of India
Mumbai is known as the Cosmopolitan Golden City of India due to the large number of Public utility infrastructure Buildings, Hospitals, Financial Institutes, Capital Market, parks as well as private gardens, roadside and avenue trees and the magnificent Museum and Beaches. Over the years, urbanization and the fast growth rate of the city has taken their toll on the city and the image is gradually changing from a Golden city, to a dirty, fast deteriorating city. The high rise of living has taken over from a better standard of living. We at Fulora Foundation want its citizens to come together and join forces to make Mumbai amiable.
The first year focus has been largely on short-term works capable of yielding quick visible results besides generating learnings for expanding and consolidating long-term infrastructure projects, from year two such as the following:
1. Private Public Partnership
- Legal and Administrative reforms
- State of the Art Clean, stink free Public Toilets
- Shifting of Beggars in to Beggars Home
- Removal of debris and unidentified articles and other material lying on footpaths of the City’s Major Roads.
- Scope out projects with specific deliverables
- Enhance sustained delivery mechanisms
2. Long Term Impact Initiatives
Urban renewal through:
- Rejuvenation of old areas including decongestion measures
- Upgrade Infrastructure
- Roads
- Parking systems
- Market Development
- SW and liquid waste management
- Storm water drain rehabilitation
- Best practices for new layouts
- Improve slum environment
Mumbai goes 21st century development to City Wide! |

We will make an appeal to the citizens of this city through electronic and print media. “ We want them to know about the many projects aimed at beautification of Mumbai city. The general public can contribute to the decision making process by sending us your comments, attending public meetings, or becoming a member of a committee. So, get involved!”
